Our Programs

Competitions

We run monthly photographic competitions in 3 to 4 genres (e.g. monochrome, open, set subject), a great way to develop your skills and have your images professionally critiqued.

  • New members who do not have a pre-existing grade from another club are first graded so that their images will be judged against those made by members of a similar skill level.

  • Each month members are invited to submit images online which are then sent to qualified judges from the Photographic Society of Queensland for scoring.

  • At the monthly club meetings, we view everyone’s image entries (no names are provided) and hear the judge’s scores and comments.

  • An Image of the Month is awarded for each genre in each division and judge’s scores accumulate and go towards annual photographer and image awards.

Learning & Development

We hold monthly Learning and Development (L&D) nights.

  • This is a friendly, open and relaxed forum where experience and skills can be shared and questions answered.

  • Some of our experienced members present education material in the form of PowerPoint presentations, videos, workshops and practical demonstrations.

  • We cover a wide variety of subjects for members of all levels from beginner through to advanced.

  • We also include material that will assist members in upcoming competition genres (e.g. portraits, still life, etc.).

Activities

The club organises field trips in and around Townsville and further abroad.

  • This gives you the opportunity socialise and interact with others who share your passion.

  • Members can expand upon their portfolios in a supportive environment.

  • A fun way to learn new skills.
